Given the sometimes old-fashioned reputation of the country, it is normal to wonder about the state of Gay Travel in Ireland. For anyone in the LGBT community, the classic picture of Ireland as a very religious and generally quite conservative country may not bode well for travel plans.

Dublin’s LGBTQ Pride Festival takes place every year during the summer with a big parade in the centre of Dublin. Pride brunches and breakfasts take place across the city before the parade, there’s a Dublin Pride Thanksgiving Service and after the colourful and (obviously!) flammanant parade, there’s a massive outdoor party with great entertainment and musical acts.

Same-sex marriage in the Republic of Ireland has been legal since 16 November 2015. A referendum on 22 May 2015 amended the Constitution of Ireland to provide that marriage is recognised irrespective of the sex of the partners.
